Future Exhibitions |

Plans for future exhibitions at the Tea Museum include: |

| |
|
Many famous people have appeared in tea advertising,
ranging from King Edward VIIth of the UK, to billionaire entrepreneurs,
to Hollywood film stars. A selection of such advertisments from
the Tea Museum collection will form an unusual exhibition that
delves into the social history of tea. |

|
| |
|
In
the declining years of the Russian Empire, the last Tsar,
Nicholas II, commissioned Sergey Mikhaylovich Prokudin-Gorsky to
travel the length and breadth of the empire in a specially built
railway carriage and photograph the Tsar's subjects and their way
of life. His photographs offer a vivid portrait of a lost world—the
Russian Empire on the eve of World
War I and the Russian revolution.The journey covered
the tea growing regions of the Russian empire and a selection of
these photographs will be exhibited at the Tea Museum. Prokudin-Gorsky
has a special place in the history of photography since he invented
some of the earliest techniques for colour photography. |

The Tea Museum holds a collection of botanical prints
and engravings from the 16C onwards. Some of these are on permanent
display at the Tea Museum. This exhibition will present more rare
prints from the collection. |
