sterling silver tea strainer, made by Mappin & Webb
in Sheffield circa 1922-23.
12.7 cm long,
2.5 cm deep, and 6.5cm in diameter.
The design features
pierced handles decorated with bell flowers, a bowl piercing
that includes Tulips, and a molded rim around the bowl.
It bears
the appropriate English hallmarks on the outside of the bowl,
and has a French "Fabrication Anglaise" mark
above an importers mark on the bottom outside of the bowl, and
other French hallmarks (or "Bigornes") including the
tiny insect import mark on both handles, indicating it was made
for export to France.
