Arguably the hippest district in Tokyo, Ebisu Nishi's labyrinthine backstreets are full of surprises. Evening is the best time to visit this area in the Shibuya ward. The fare ranges from kaiseki (tasting menu) to tapas-style snacks served at lively standing bars called tachinomiya.

Tea Museum

2-20-12 Ebisu Nishi

This teahouse-cum-store is well worth the trouble of finding in Ebisu Nishi's maze-like backstreets. It's kitted out in British turn-of-the-century decor and offers afternoon tea all day until 10pm. Choose from a large selection of globally sourced teas, including herb-infused and fragrant, and pair them with delicious cakes and fruit jellies for 1,400 yen.
